CCM -­‐ Comitato Collaborazione Medica is an INGO founded in 1968 in Italy and specialized in the health sector. Its core mission is contributing to the development processes which safeguard and promote the right to health, by acting with an integrated approach on the health needs and by influencing the social-­‐economical determinants. CCM aims at improving health conditions of the population in low-­‐ income countries and intervenes through projects of international cooperation, education to the world citizenship, advocacy activities and interventions of health promotion in the context of migration processes.

CCMcooperates with the local communities and authorities to strengthen and develop the health systems, to improve accessibility to and the quality of prevention and health care services. CCM cooperates with local organizations and promotes an integrated approach to the health by working directly with other local and international organizations in cross-­‐cutting sectors which help the complete well-­‐being of the individual.

CCM has been continuously in South Sudan since 1983, with main focus on Warrap and Lakes States. In thecountry, CCM is MoH partner in supporting the development of integrated health and nutrition service delivery, to meet MoH priority targets according to the national health strategies and official guidelines.

In Tonj South County of Warrap state CCM is acting as CHD leading agency supporting primary health care services, Nutrition services and secondary health care in the Tonj County / Civil Hospital ( TCH) . In State, CCM is currently implementing health projects in partnership with the Warrap State MoH. The activities implemented include: (I) support to facility based primary health care; (II) community based interventions; (III) public sensitization campaigns on Health and Nutrition; (iv) support to the maternal health and surgery in the Tonj County /Civil Hospital.

To ensure smooth implementation of Secondary Health care services in the TCH (Tonj South, Warrap State) CCM intends to recruit:

POSITION: Pharmacy Technician (1)

Duty station: Tonj County/Civil Hospital (TCH)
Contract duration: Four (4) months including a three months-probation; the extension of the contract is subject to performance appraisal review and funding availability.

Job Description

The Pharmacy technician is a key role within CCM Tonj County / Civil Hospital project, requiring the activities outlined in the job description below to be fulfilled. Successful candidate is expected to have the ability to develop and improve the functions of the position within the organization.

She/he will be part of a dynamic secondary health care team and will be responsible of the management of the TCH pharmacy and of the correct and timely reporting of drugs consumption and inventory. She/he will report to CCM Matron, CCM Medical Coordinator and to the SMoH Hospital Director.

Objectives and general characteristics

  • Ensure the efficient functioning of the Tonj County / Civil Hospital Pharmacy;
  • Facilitate the capacity building of local health staff;
  • Improve the data collection and reporting system, as well as the correct utilization of the pharmacy register and information tools;

Areas of responsibility

  • In charge of the TCH services provided at the pharmacy.
  • Responsible for the storage of drugs and medical materials according to SMoH standards (first in, first out system and notice of expiry dates.
  • Responsible for the stock cards, which must be filled in accurately and clearly with minimum stock levels must be indicated on the stock cards and the expiry dates.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly consumption of drugs and materials based on departmental consumption records.
  • Ensure the stock level is updated by organizing regular physical inventories, minimum one before every international order is placed.
  • Be aware of any drugs expiring in the next 6 months and inform supervisor monthly.
  • Assist in making the quarterly orders and other orders with assistance of supervisors.
  • Be aware of the drugs and supplies expected in the orders.
  • Receive the orders efficiently always organizing the pharmacy ready to take in the extra stock.
  • Participate in the weekly medical meetings to update staff on drug and medical supply issues, orders, shortages, rupture of drugs etc so that alternatives can be discussed as necessary.
  • Responsible for drug destruction and records of medicines destroyed.
  • Ensure the pharmacy is tidy and clean.

Qualifications:

· The position is open to South Sudanese ONLY

· Pharmacy Technician Diploma or equivalent training

· Familiar with Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) MoH standards

· Professional fluency in spoken and written English

· Knowledge of Arabic or/and Dinka language is an added advantage

· Previous working experience with an NGO/ Government and private sector in similar position of reporting and responsibility;

· Energetic, independent and self-motivated to work in resource limited and harsh environment;

· Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills.

· Creative planning and problem-solving skills.

· Experience with data collection and analysis.

· High flexibility with sensitivity to cultural settings.

· Computer knowledge and skills

· Proven history of job stability

· The successful candidate should be ready to start his work later on September 01, 2015
